From an early age Evert discovered a profound love for drawing, a passion that became the foundation of his artistic journey. Later, music wove itself into his life, and he ascended to play the violin professionally in Venezuelan symphony orchestras, employing his creativity across disciplines. Evert honed his craft at the Universidad de los Andes in Mérida, Venezuela, where he studied Visual Arts and Graphic Design. There, he embraced painting, photography, and mixed media, blending techniques to craft evocative and surreal compositions. His dedication and visionary approach earned him six major academic honours, including the prestigious "Luis María Rivas Dávila" order for the highest academic achievement in visual arts, awarded to him three times. In 2017, after inmigrating from Venezuela and living as regufee in New York City, Evert found solace and inspiration in Prince Edward County, Canada. The breathtaking landscapes and vibrand community of his new home have infused new life into his surrealist work. In October 2025, after being accepted into the Barcelona Acadmy of Art, Evert will persue an intensive program in Drawing and Classical Oil Painting His work weaves together the rich tapestry of his Venezuelan heritage—infused with folkloric and cultural symbolism—and heartfelt tributes to the Canadian indigenous themes that resonate deeply with him. Each piece tells a story, vivid with colour and dreamlike wonder, inviting viewers into a world of boundless imagination. His art transcends borders, a vibrant celebration of identity, memory, and the intricate beauty of transformation. |
